Vazhakka Mezhukkupuratti is a vegetarian side dish made with raw Kerala banana. This stir fry goes well with rice.

Ingredients
- 3 cups Raw Kerala banana (3 medium-sized)
- 1 cup Shallot sliced
- 2 teaspoons Garlic crushed
- 1/2 - 3/4 teaspoon Chilli powder
- 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Mustard seed
- 2 sprigs Curry leaves
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons Coconut oil

Instructions
- Peel the banana and cut into small cubes or strips. Wash the banana pieces thoroughly and cook along with turmeric powder, salt and required amount of water. Switch off the flame and keep aside.
- Heat oil in a pan and splutter the mustard seeds. Add crushed garlic, shallots, and curry leaves, cook until the shallots start changing the color.
- Add chili powder along with little water and saute until raw smell goes.
- Add cooked banana, mix well and cook for another few minutes.
- Remove from fire, serve with rice.
- NOTE - One cup = 250 ml, one tablespoon = 15 ml, one teaspoon = 5 ml.
