Ingredients
  • 2 cups Basmati rice
  • 4 cups Boiling water
  • 2 cups Green peas fresh or frozen
  • 1 cup Onion chopped
  • 1 number Green chilli finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger crushed
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic crushed
  • 6 numbers Clove
  • 4 number Cardamom
  • 2 small pieces Cinnamon
  • 1 number Bay leaf
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Lime juice
  • Salt to taste
  • 3 tablespoons Ghee
For Garnishing
  • 1/4 cup Cashew nuts
  • 1 tablespoon Ghee

  • 1 tablespoon Ghee
Instructions
  1. Wash and soak the rice for 15 minutes. Drain the water and keep it aside.
  2. Heat ghee in a large pan and add clove, cardamom, cinnamon, bay leaf, and cumin seeds.
  3. Add onion and saute until it becomes golden. Add ginger, garlic, and green chilli and saute for a few minutes until the raw smell goes.
  4. Add green peas and drained rice, saute for 5 minutes on medium heat.
  5. Add boiling water, lime juice, and salt, and mix well. Cover and cook on low flame until the water is dried completely and the rice is cooked.
  6. Garnish with fried cashew nuts. Serve with any veg or non veg curry of your choice.
  7. NOTE - One cup = 250 ml, one tablespoon = 15 ml, and one teaspoon = 5 ml.
  8. I used nature's gift khushboo basmati rice in this recipe.
