Vazhakka Mezhukkupuratti
Vazhakka Mezhukkupuratti is a vegetarian side dish made with raw Kerala banana. This stir fry goes well with rice.

Ingredients
  • 3cups Raw Kerala banana(3 medium-sized)
  • 1cup Shallotsliced
  • 2teaspoons Garliccrushed
  • 1/2 – 3/4teaspoon Chilli powder
  • 1/4teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1/2teaspoon Mustard seed
  • 2sprigs Curry leaves
  • Saltto taste
  • 2tablespoons Coconut oil
Instructions
  1. Peel the banana and cut into small cubes or strips. Wash the banana pieces thoroughly and cook along with turmeric powder, salt and required amount of water. Switch off the flame and keep aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and splutter the mustard seeds. Add crushed garlic, shallots, and curry leaves, cook until the shallots start changing the color.
  3. Add chili powder along with little water and saute until raw smell goes.
  4. Add cooked banana, mix well and cook for another few minutes.
  5. Remove from fire, serve with rice.
  6. NOTE – One cup = 250 ml, one tablespoon = 15 ml, one teaspoon = 5 ml.
