  • 3/4 cup Cherupayar (green gram)
  • 3/4 cup Onion chopped
  • 1/2 cup Tomato chopped
  • 2 teaspoons Garlic chopped
  • 1 number Green chilli chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon Chilli powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Kashmiri chilli powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon Coriander powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil
For Seasoning
  • 3/4 teaspoon Mustard seed
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seed
  • 4 numbers Shallot sliced
  • 1 number Dry red chilli
  • 1 sprig Curry leaf
  • Oil

  • 3/4 cup Cherupayar (green gram)
  • 3/4 cup Onion chopped

  • 1 number Dry red chilli
  • 1 sprig Curry leaf

Instructions
  1. Soak the green gram overnight or at least 8 hours. Pressure cook it with the required amount of water and salt. Keep aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and saute onion until golden. Add garlic and green chilli, saute until the raw smell goes.
  3. Add chilli powder, Kashmiri chilli powder, coriander powder, and turmeric powder along with little water and saute until raw smell goes. Add tomatoes and cook till it becomes soft. Finally, add cooked green grams, mix well, and boil for a few minutes.
  4. Heat oil in a small pan, fry mustard seeds, cumin seeds, shallots, dry red chili, and curry leaves, add to the curry.
  5. NOTE - One cup = 250 ml, one teaspoon = 5 ml
