  • 3 cups Onion thinly sliced
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Ginger chopped
  • 3 numbers Green chilli chopped
  • 2 sprigs Curry leaves chopped
  • 1/3 cups Besan (gram flour)
  • 2 tablespoons Rice flour roasted
  • 1/2 teaspoon Chilli powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon Asafoetida powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions
  1. In a mixing bowl, add sliced onion, ginger, green chilli, curry leaves, and salt. Mix well with your hand and keep aside for 10 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, mix the gram flour, rice flour, chilli powder, and asafoetida powder.
  3. Add the flour mixture to the onion mixture and mix well. Do not add any water as the moisture in the onion mixture is enough to coat everything together.
  4. Heat oil in a deep pan. Take 1 1/2 tablespoons of batter in your hand, flatten slightly with your thumb and gently add to the hot oil. Fry both sides on medium heat until golden brown.
  5. Transfer to a paper towel to drain excess oil. Serve hot with tea or coffee.
  6. NOTE - One cup = 250 ml, one tablespoon = 15 ml, one teaspoon = 5 ml.
