Chapati/Roti is an Indian flatbread made with whole wheat flour. It can be prepared in one hour or less and needs no leavening agents.

Ingredients
2cupsWhole wheat flour
1tablespoonGhee
1cupHot water
1/2teaspoonSalt
Whole wheat flourextra for rolling
Instructions
Combine whole wheat flour, ghee, and salt in a bowl.
Add hot water little by little, combine using a spoon and set aside to cool down a bit.
Knead well to form a soft dough. (If the dough is too dry, add more hot water) Cover and keep aside for 30 minutes.
Knead the dough again and divide into medium-sized balls.
Roll the balls into thin circles by dusting flour.
Heat a tawa and cook the rolled chapati. Gently press the top of the chapati to make it puffed. Cook both sides. (Don’t flip the chapati more than two times during cooking)
Serve warm with any veg or nonveg curry of your choice.
NOTE – One cup = 250 ml, one tablespoon = 15 ml, one teaspoon = 5 ml.
