Beef Mappas
Beef mappas is a Kerala style beef curry with thick coconut milk. Other main ingredients are beef, potatoes, and coriander powder.

Ingredients
To Cook Beef
  • 250 grams Beefcut into small cubes
  • 1/2teaspoon Pepper powder
  • 1/4teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1/4teaspoon Vinegar
  • Saltto taste
Other Ingredients
  • 2numbers Clove
  • 2numbers Cardamom
  • 1number Cinnamon
  • 1cup Potatocut into small cubes
  • 3/4cup Thick coconut milk
  • 3/4cup Onionchopped
  • 1/2cup Tomatochopped
  • 1 1/2teaspoons Gingerchopped
  • 1 1/2teaspoons Garlicchopped
  • 1number Green chillichopped
  • 4teaspoons Coriander powder
  • 1/2teaspoon Chilli powder
  • 1/2teaspoon Garam masala
  • Saltto taste
  • Coconut oilto saute
For Seasoning
  • 1/2teaspoon Mustard seed
  • 3numbers Shallotsliced
  • 1sprig Curry leaves
  • Coconut oil
Instructions
  1. Cook the beef with pepper powder, turmeric powder, vinegar, salt, and the required amount of water. Keep aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and add clove, cardamom, cinnamon, onion, ginger, garlic, and green chilli, saute until the onion starts changing color.
  3. Add coriander powder, chilli powder, and turmeric powder along with little water and saute until the raw smell goes.
  4. Add tomatoes, mix well and cook until softens.
  5. Add potatoes and cook by adding the required amount of water. Cook until the potatoes are fully cooked through.
  6. Add cooked beef, gram masala, and coconut milk. Boil until the curry starts to thicken. Remove from heat.
  7. Heat oil in a small pan and fry mustard seed, shallots, and curry leaves, add to the mappas.
  8. Serve with white rice, appam, pathiri, chapati, etc.
  9. NOTE – One cup = 250 ml, one teaspoon = 5 ml.
